Casinos Closest to Knoxville, Tn

Tennessee has the state lottery, but unfortunately it does not yet have a casino, which means that the thousands of people in Tennessee who enjoy an exciting night at a casino will have to travel outside of the state to have their evening of gambling entertainment. However, if you live in the Knoxville area, then you’re in luck because there are quite a few casinos within a few hours driving distance.

1.  Harrah’s Cherokee Casino - Cherokee, NC (1-800-427-7247) Approximately 78 miles or two hours driving time from Knoxville to the casino in Cherokee, NC.  Currently, this casino is undergoing a major $633 million renovation/expansion project.  Of course, the casino is still up and running at full steam, but there are some exciting new changes being made.  The current renovation project is expected to be complete in 2012 and has been underway since around 2007.

2.  Belterra Casino Resort & Spa - Florence, IN (1-888-BELTERRA)  www.belterracasino.comApprox. 262 Miles or 4 hours drive time from Knoxville to Florence, IN.  Belterra is a gorgeous resort with a lot to offer.  Their casino has nearly 1600 slot machines and plenty of live table action.  The hotel has about 600 rooms including 50 multi-room suites.  The casino is well worth the 4 hour drive and I highly recommend that you make reservations and plan to stay for at least a couple of days.  Schedule some down time in their luxury spa for a his and hers massage, enjoy steak and seafood at the Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse on site, go for a round of golf, or lounge by the pool.  Oh, and don’t forget to check out their daily poker tournaments for your chance to win big!

3.  Horseshoe Southern Indiana (previously known as Caesars Indiana) - Elizabeth, IN (1-877-237-6626)  www.horseshoe-indiana.comApprox 265 miles or 4 hours, 10 minutes from Knoxville to Elizabeth, IN.  Horseshoe is a Harrah’s property and has nearly 2000 slot machines and more than 600 table game positions.  They have just recently opened a Paula Dean restaurant in 2010 that seems to be quite popular.  This casino has a lot of fun games and the hotel is beautiful.  It also has a parking garage just outside the casino for easy access.  (This is not one of my favorite Indiana casinos simply because the lines to the casino service desk and restaurants are usually extremely long and the cigarette smoke inside the casino is so heavy that it burns my eyes and throat.  If you don’t mind long lines and heavy cigarette smoke then you will love it.)
